The UN Convention on the Rights of The Child (UNCRC) was adopted unanimously by the United Nation General Assembly on 20th November 1989. 193 countries have now ratified the UNCRC, expect the United States and Somalia. Under the UNCRC are not just seen as mere recipients of welfare but as rights bearers and as having a vital role in the promotion and protection of their own rights. UNCRC is shape around four mutually reinforcing general principles , Non-discrimination, the best interests of the child, the right to life, survival and development and the right to be heard.
