We the people of the United States respectfully request that the Obama Administration issue an executive order severely limiting the amount of money corporations can contribute to campaigns and elected members of the federal government.
The death of any democracy has been and always will be when the people in positions of power are influenced by money. The Supreme Court's decision in favor of Citizens United has caused the most expensive election cycle in American history.
It is time to ensure the longevity of our democracy and remove the influence of corporate money from the democratic process. Let us never forget the calling of President Lincoln at Gettysburg to be highly resolved that "government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
