Scientific studies have implicated HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP [HFCS] as a risk factor for HYPERTENSION, DIABETES, OBESITY, METABOLIC SYNDROME, GOUT, and FRUCTOSE MALABSORPTION including symptoms of ABDOMINAL PAIN, GAS, bloating, and gastrointestinal INFLAMMATION. And that's not all. Case reports and anecdotal evidence link HFCS to mucus hypersecretion of the airways, auto-immune reactivity, chronic bronchitis, chronic eustachian tube dysfunction, and ASTHMA. For more than 15 years pediatricians and the medical community have heard reports of the link between HFCS and respiratory disease, yet it remains medically unrecognized and unresearched. It's time to revisit whether HFCS should continue as a "Generally Recognized as Safe Food." For how much longer should we ignore the science.
