Christopher Columbus is one of the best known people in World History. We teach our children that he discovered the west and we celebrate his discovery. What is not taken into account is what he did to the people who actually found the Americas, the Native Americans. The acts he did to them is inhuman and unjust in every way, us as Americans and people should be ashamed that we even think that what he has done is in need of a celebration. He is a man who violated the humanity of the Native Americans, and he does not deserve a holiday. We to have violated the rights of the Native Americans throughout our 200 year history. This is like a bigger stab in the back to them and if we have any humanity should be stopped. So, I am asking that the White House remove it as a National Holiday.
