The Electoral College should be removed as it has failed in its basic purpose of letting Americans select the president three times in our nation's history. This means that the president that won the popular vote did not win the presidency because of the Electoral College. However, this isn't the only way in which the Electoral College misrepresents Americans. Due to the Electoral College's system of giving less populated states more electoral votes by taking some from the more populous states in the Union, it also misrepresents where people live. My proposal is that a direct voting system (meaning an American's vote goes straight to voting for their preferred candidate instead of going through an elector) should be installed.
