The electoral college was made in the thought that ordinary people would not know enough about the candidates. I believe that in the information age that we are in we know plenty about the candidates. There will occasionally be people who have seen or heard biased information, but the percentages are low. In the history of the United States of America there have four different cases of presidents winning by the electoral vote yet not the popular vote. One of these being in the last twelve years. If the electoral college was gone then our votes would actually count.
