The electoral college was created back when this country did not have widespread media, so it was easier to elect someone at the state level who in turn would vote for president. Nowadays, we know who the candidates are; however, all the focus is on the "swing states" and the other states are pretty much not focused on. Pretty much if you live In a state that is solid red or blue and you vote the other way, you feel your vote doesn't really count. The electoral college should be thrown out and we should use the popular vote to elect the president.
