The electoral college system can lead to a wrong representation of how the American people want their country to advance after an election. This must not be the case anymore, no matter which party is affected by this issue.
It has to be the popular vote electing the new president.
As a voter it is easier to accept an election result and president if you see that the majority of citizens have voted this way.
It certainly does not make you feel like your voice was heard if more citizens voted for your candidate but he lost anyway. In that case, the outrage and conflict will be much bigger than if your candidate lost his race by the popular vote.
