Pennies cost more money than they actually are worth to make. Pennies costed 1.6 cents to mint in 2009. Nickels worth 5 cents costed 6.1 cents to make in 2009. The United States government lost 22 million dollars in 2009 on nickel and penny production. Now I feel that is a waste on pieces of currency we as Americans don't even use. Do you remember the last time you bought something for 1/100 of a dollar. The production of pennies and nickels are just wasting American taxpayer's hard earned money!
