Get rid of the penny. Replace the paper dollar. Reform the minting of our money to reflect 21st century reality.

Created by H.C. on November 14, 2012

It is time to rework our monetary system to reflect the value of our money in the 21st Century. We should take steps now, beginning with eliminating the penny and paper dollar, to move toward a system where we only need one decimal place in our pricing. Eliminate the nickel and quarter. Have a dime, fifty cent piece and dollar coin. This would simplify the system for everyone from grade school children to large financial institutions. (Prices would be $11.3, $102.8, etc.) It is estimated that this simplification would save our economy $2 trillion over the next half century in data processing costs alone. As our elder citizens like to remind us, they could go to the movies for a nickel... How much do we pay now? Times have changed. Now is the time to change to change we can believe in!
