Mr President, it's time to get serious about your promise and close Guantanamo prison. It's true there's a Congressional funding restriction on transferring prisoners, but why can't private funds be used? Reuters reports your campaign has $14 million in leftover funds, excluding money in party accounts and PACS. You're not running for office again due to term limits. The money can be legally donated to any charity, which includes the U.S. Treasury.
So, we ask you, if you can't spend public funds to transfer prisoners, what stops you from using private funds, including the $14 million you already have that you could put towards this charitable purpose?
