The United States has the largest number of prisoners of any country in the world. In light of this, we urge the Obama administration to pass the smarter sentencing act to reduce these numbers. The fairer sentencing practices will address issues of overcrowding, reduce costly mandatory minimums for first time, non-violent, drug offenders, and avoid sending innocent people who had unknowingly or unintentionally broken the law.
