41 out of the 50 states in this country have a luxury tax on feminine products. The use of feminine products is no choice, they are a basic necessity and should be readily available and affordable for everyone. Items such as tampons and pads should not be considered luxury items, women have no choice to use them for their menstration. Canada has gotten rid of the tax on feminine products, so why shouldn't we? The use of feminine products are no choice, they're just a required part of being a women and getting your period. The luxury taxation of tampons and pads is not only unfair and unjust, but also sexist, as many men's products do not recieve a luxury tax, just the traditional sales tax. People should be able to deal with their bodily functions without being financially penalized.
