It takes ~365.25 days for the earth to orbit the sun such that roughly every 4 years we add on a 'Leap' day to make up the difference. For salaried employees, this leads to a reduction in pay every 4 years as salaries are negotiated based upon a 365 day (not 366 day) year. With 121.4 million salaried employees in the US with a median income of $50K/year, leap day accounts for a cumulative decrease in pay across the United States of roughly 16 billion dollars every 4 years.
As a result, I propose that the United States government, in coordination with NASA, SpaceX, and the DoD construct a rocket large enough to accelerate the orbit of the earth around the sun to exactly once every 365 days -- thereby ending leap day and all of the issues contained therein.
