give adoptees equal rights. Ensure that every adoptee can obtain a copy of their true original birth certificate.

Created by N.B. on January 14, 2012

Adoptees shouldn't be treated differently than everyone else. The following is based on personal experience & may not apply to all states. Adoptees get an "amended birth certificate" that doesn't even say it's amended so some people may not even know they're adopted. Much of the form is left blank like time of birth and name of doctor. What is filled out is the information about the adoptive parents who have nothing to do with the birth. With no true birth certificate adoptees cannot research their family tree or even find their family. Genealogy is impossible for them. They don't know of any ancestors without that information. Their true identity is hidden from them. All relatives & descendants of an adoptee are punished for being related to them, not being able to complete a family tree.
