Military veteran medics, techicians, etc. often receive hands on training on top of their experience and assigned schools to do medical jobs. They typically work along side civilian and military nurses, doctors and other healthcare providers yet when they leave the military they have nothing to show the civilian medical force that they are extremely qualified. Most of these people could function on the EMT-A or LPN level with no difficulty, yet they must go to school for a year and a half to prove this. I personally went to two schools, went on three deployments, and received top evaluations to include a Junior Sailor of the Year award and found difficulty obtaining employment in similar positions despite 8 years of medical experience. Veterans should receive civilian certifications.
