This petition calls for citizens to be able to take cigarette butts to a recycle center set up and operated by the tobacco industry. Smokers and non-smokers alike are tired of the litter, smell, sight, and harm to the environment, and to people caused by cigarette butts not being disposed of properly. People toss them onto the ground or out of their cars with no regard or care about the impact this causes. The sight of cigarette butts piled up at an intersection or the smell of them piled up while waiting in a drive-thru are of serious concern. The tobacco industry should embrace being a good corporate citizen by paying citizens $0.03 for returning cigarette butts to them, at a recycle center set up and operated by them, for proper disposal. A REAL win for US Americans and the environment.
