Americans are increasingly frustrated at the idea of our tax dollars being spent in ways that are wasteful or against our religious or moral beliefs. I am proposing that a survey be created for all tax payers to fill out when we file our income taxes each year. We would be able to rank the top 10 places we would like our money to be spent and the bottom 10 places we would not like our money to be spent. This information would be published in the media and compared to the actual spending that has taken place at the end of each year. I believe that this would put pressure on our representatives to consider the desires of the majority of their constituents rather than those who are the most outspoken or who have the most influence.
