In the 2012 congressional elections the democratic candidates running for house seats had a total of over 1,000,000 more votes than republicans. However, gerrymandering allowed for republicans to keep the house majority. For those who don't know, gerrymandering is the redrawing of district lines in a congressional race that gives an advantage towards a certain party. I believe that this practice spoils our first amendment RIGHT for free/equal elections, and it fails to show the will of the people in election outcomes. Because of this, I believe that we need a fair and nonpartisan committee to redraw district lines to allow a just midterm election this November that our founding fathers would have wanted.
