give federal funding to the SETI program, also known as "Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence".

This petition is to persuade the administration to give federal funding to the organization known as "SETI" or "Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence". Currently SETI is privately funded & even though they possess some impressive equipment & numbers, they have only searched less than 1% of stars in our Galaxy alone. The search for alien life is, perhaps, the most important question we can ask ourselves & we are at a stage in human history where we have the means to find the answer once & for all. To find a radio signal from another intelligent civilization would be the greatest discovery in Human history. Such a discovery would have the potential to unite all of humanity under one identity for the first time in history & take us one step closer to a more enlightened world of discovery.
