Andrew Chambers served 2 tours of duty in Iraq during operation Iraqi freedom, even volunteering for a second tour, so that other soldiers with families would not have been chosen to stay there for another year away from their families. Upon returning home, he suffered from PTSD. He went to the VA hospital seeking help, fearing that he would be a danger to others, and all they did was give him sleeping pills and send him on his way. At a party, someone pulled a knife on him and he disarmed and beat the man who did it. Upon sentencing, the judge stated that due to his service to our country, the judge felt obligated to sentence him to 10 years in prison because said service made him a danger to society. He does not deserve to be treated this way because he was not given proper medical care.
