Give GI Bill Benefits back to Vets that lost it

Created by J.L. on May 29, 2013

I could be wrong, but I think that US military vets that don't use their GI Bill lose it after 10 years. If they've paid into the system and they're older, and they want to go to college, they should still have access to this benefit to offset the costs of getting a degree as an adult.

As a vet that lost his GI Bill under a use it or lose it, with Pell Grants and a Federal loan, a 4yr BA at my State's university (as a resident) will put me $36,000 in debt.

if I had $20k from the GI Bill, I would only be $16 in debt. That's a difference of $750/month extra vs $333/month to pay off the loan each tuition year.
