Give GLBT students independent status on their FAFSA if their parents refuse to fill it out to discriminate against them

Created by A.S. on April 03, 2013

To receive student loans, a potential college student must have his or her parent(s) provide tax information and signatures on a FAFSA form. If a student is "out" and a parent is homophobic, the parent can refuse to sign the FAFSA based on their own discriminatory views.

A GLBT student should be able to declare independence from their parent(s) with regards to the FAFSA form if the student is being discriminated against based on sexual orientation. Please support this if you feel that GLBT students should be given equal rights to higher education.
