We the people ask the federal government to Propose a new Administration policy:

Give incentives to pay student debt

Created by P.J. on May 09, 2016

Currently, student debt and dropout rates for STEM degrees are a massive problem. While the federal government may be making a lot money on the debt, it is ruining the lives of students who graduate with a degree and 40k+ in debt.

Allow all businesses and individuals to pay off federal and private student debt for any student who was a citizen when they successfully completed a STEM degree, and write the payment off as a tax deduction. This allows companies that might have moved the money out of the country to invest it right here at home. It puts the money in the hands of people who have been proved to have the smarts to get through college, and provides an incentive to finish college instead of dropping out.
