In the period 2003 to 2012, it is estimated that 8000 people were abducted by Pakistani security forces in Balochistan. In 2008 alone, an estimated 1102 Baloch people disappeared. There have also been reports of torture. The US has expressed concerns over human rights issues and urged parties in Pakistan to work out their differences peaceably and through a valid political process.
