For those unfamiliar with Lt. Brian Murphy, he is a hero in every sense of the word. This man arrived at a Sikh Temple to see a madman, who’d already killed 6 people, set his site on him. This man, shot 12 times, held off the gunman until reinforcements arrived. Saving countless lives. The president spoke of him at the SOTU, and he sat in the crowd a reluctant hero.
He received not a single second of applause, among a speech of almost 100 instances of applause. We stood and applauded a centenarian who voted. However this mans heroism was glazed over and a quiet chamber dismissed him as quickly as he was introduced. It was an embarrassment to every person in that Chamber.
I am formally asking that he receive the standing ovation he deserved, accompanied by the apology our government
