To get a reply to a petition, we have 30 days to gain 100k signatures. That's ridiculous! This requirement puts it out of reach for average American citizens and voters to get a response from their government!
It's bad enough that when petitions are intended to stop harmful actions of a specific agency - the petition is merely referred to that agency even if it gets the required signatures in 30 days! What good does THAT do, huh?
At the very least, extend the time limit. I know for a fact that it's not costing many of our tax dollars to keep a petition available for more than 30 days! The current policy makes a sad joke of this opportunity for citizens to reach out to our government - that requires citizen support and needs citizen involvement!
