Mothers ought to be able to take leave from the workforce to care for their babies and continue to receive income. The USA needs to join the rest of the world on this. Politicians love to talk about family values, but there is nothing more fundamental to a family than mothers taking care of their own babies. Mothers shouldn't have to choose between working and having a baby. They should be able to take a break from work and create that maternal bond with her baby from which the whole of society would benefit. Everybody retires. We pay for that. People get fired from their jobs. We pay for that. It's time to start paying hardworking American workers to take a break from work, take care of their babies, and then go back to work!
