to give the name ENTERPRISE to the next air craft carrier commissioned by the United States Navy.

Created by M.E. on January 17, 2013

Currently, with the decommissioning of the USS Enterprise, CVN-65, the US Navy does not have a ship in its fleet with the name. In World War II, the USS Enterprise, a Yorktown Class aircraft carrier, CV-6, was the most highly decorated vessel in US Navy history. The history of ships named Enterprise, in the US Navy, goes back to the late 1700s. The history:

1775-1777 Sloop of War
1799-1823 Schooner
1831-1844 Schooner
1877-1909 Sloop of War
1936-1958 Aircraft Carrier CV-6
1961-2012 Aircraft Carrier CVN-65
1976-2011 Space Shuttle OV-101

The name Enterprise must be included in the roster of ships in our navy and this petition calls on the government to name the next ship so.
