Give NASA More Funding

NASA should get more of the annual budget than is currently provided. During the time period of 1965-1975, the average percent of the budget given to NASA was 2.57%. During this time, our space program was doing much more than racing the rest of the world to the moon. They led the charge against the 1970s energy crisis, and our knowledge on solar and wind energy would not be where it is today without them. They also helped in the creation of the first prototype insulin pump in 1963. Most people think all NASA does is explore space, but they have proven they do so much more when given the proper funding. As of 2014, NASA gets 0.5% of the annual budget. If the budget was a $100 bill, NASA gets half of dollar. We have seen what they can do for us, now we need to see what we can do for them.
