Give non-violent drug offenders who stay out of trouble for five years a true "SECOND CHANCE" and seal their records.

Created by M.M. on January 22, 2013

With our prisons overflowing with non-violent drug offenders, the time has come to readdress how these former "criminals" are treated after release.

If they stay out of trouble for five years, all of their criminal records should be sealed and remain sealed unless they commit another felony. They should regain all the rights and privileges of their fellow citizen including the right to vote, travel outside the country, etc. I.e they should not be stigmatized against for the rest of their lives. Let's really give them a true "Second Chance".

If ever convicted again, their records are unsealed and never will be sealed again. But this would allow the millions of people who made one bad a choice a real chance to prove they have reformed and be of maximum benefit to our nation.
