Presently our service men and women only receive a death benefit of $250 to be applied towards their final burial if done in a cemetery other than a National Cemetery. If they are laid to rest in a National Cemetery, the family must pay for all of the final expenses except the plot, Honor Guard, and grave side service.
This petition is to ask the White House to create fund to pay for all funeral expenses. It should not matter where the service man or woman is to be laid to rest, we should show our final respects by making sure their family receives the support of a grateful nation. All final expenses for our Service Personnel, who served with honor and either retired, served during wartime, or where wounded during combat, should be paid in full.
