Custody equality for fathers has been a heated subject for some time but no grounds ever seem to be gained. A child is best growing up with both parents in the picture if that is a possibility. I seek, on a national level, that something be done forcing courts to grant immediate 50/50 custody to parents to provide children with what is truly best for them. This should be a standard as long as both parents are willing to be active in the children's lives, no neglect or abuse situations are on record, and there are no other circumstances such as drug use, previous aggravated criminal charges etc on either parent's record. No parent should have to fight an uphill battle costing thousands of dollars to have equal rights with their children just because a separation has taken place.
