Let's say it takes 100,000 votes to win an election and ten million dollars to get those votes. Nine people donate a million dollars each to a candidate and he gets elected, having gained the requisite 100,000 votes. I voted for the candidate and I put in a call to the newly elected official because a company wants to begin fracking in my backyard and I do not want them to. The person (or corporation) who wants to start fracking in my backyard was one of the million dollar donors. Who does the "elected" official call first? Who has more representation from the "elected" official? Even if the donor did not vote for the official, do they hold more sway over the official? Might the donor have more sway over the official even though he does not even reside in his district, or state?
