According to the documentary "Gasland," the natural gas companies are exempt from certain Acts such as the Clean Water Act and others.This has lead to, among other things, water so contaminated with natural gas that the water can be lit on fire. This is water that runs through people's homes: water for bathing, drinking, laundry, dishes. Currently the EPA has no teeth to investigate the issue.
