Private student loan companies retain all the benefits of offering student loans while being able to withhold all the benefits that government student loans offer to their borrowers.
Please sign this petition if you agree that private student loan financers should be held to the same standards as government student loan ones. This includes, but is not limited to, offering minimalized interest rates, government mandated interest rates, the inclusion of an income-based repayment plan that includes loan assistance/forgiveness after a period of exemplary on-time payments of 20 years, other more flexible repayment options, and more.
People should not be penalized for wanting to further their education. Current private student loan laws are severely debilitating most new graduates.
