Rapper M.I.A. has been having VISA issues with the USA since the release of her debut album in 2005. She was refused entry because of her songs' political content and her father's affiliation to the Tamil Tigers deemed as terrorist. An organization she has nothing to do with.
This isn't the first time the rapper has to deal with this.
But while American rappers glorify crime and high living, her lyrics highlight current political events, don't appeal to violence and aim to raise awareness.
The artist is signed to Interscope Records that haven't made any move regarding this case while she has called out on it via social networks.
The absence of VISA prevents her from practising her job correctly and scuppers her chances of promoting her upcoming album and touring as she announced on Twitter
