Give redress to WI inmates sentenced under the Old Law & Eligible for Parole but being held to new Truth in Sentence Law

Approximately 3,000 of Wisconsin's Parole Eligible Inmates sentenced under the Old Law remain behind bars far longer than their sentencing judges ever envisioned, pray for H.O.P.E (Honest Opportunity for Parole Eligibility). We are calling for Governor Walker to direct the State's Department of Corrections and it's Parole Commission to enforce the Parole Laws as it was intended for prisoners who were sentenced before the Wisconsin's Truth in Sentence law which became effective in 2000. Under the Truth in Sentence Law inmates must serve the entire portion of their prison terms but prisoners sentenced before 2000 who meet their requirements are eligible for Parole, and should not be held to Truth in Sentencing Laws. The State of Wisconsin could save $30,000 a year for each qualifying inmate.
