Give relief to the General Aviation Pilots of Oahu, HI

Created by P.R. on December 04, 2012

We get it. Who doesn't want to go back to their home state for the holidays? Unfortunately for us, the General Aviation pilots of Oahu, it's quite a big impact when you come over.

We ask that you:
1. Reduce the size of the TFR to allow student pilots to still be able to fly and practice maneuvers at least on JRF / west side of Oahu, and
2. Allow practice approaches into Honolulu International Airport for IFR students.

The radius of a normal Presidential TFR is about 30 nautical miles--enough to cover the ENTIRE island of Oahu, regardless of the position of the President. Students wanting to complete flight training must wait till after the holidays, after you return to DC. All other pilots (IFR, Commercial) can easily comply with the TFR requirements, but the budding pilots are stuck.
