Soldiers coming down on PCS orders are never given the choice of where they would like to continue with their career. What I think should happen is that instead of just sending a soldier away to whatever new post/camp/base, present options for a new duty assignment where soldiers are needed.
For example; say Fort Hood, TX; Fort Campbell, KY; and JBLM, WA have units that are under strength and its time for a soldier get a new duty assignment. It would benefit that soldier's career to go to KY and be a part of an Air assault unit, but came under assignment to Fort Bragg, NC.
If the soldier was given options, it would benefit the soldier, their family, and the military.
