Sun Myung Moon was convicted of filing false federal income returns and conspiracy in 1982. However, like many churches, one does not file tax income, but Rev. Moon already transferred the money to the church when it was established in the US. He was also denied to a request for a bench trial.
To many clergy and other religious organizations in the US, they realized that Rev. Moon was discriminated simply for being a minority religion, and they created many petitions for the Government to stop this injustice.
Rev Moon was sentenced to 18 months in prison while many churches signed petitions in order to free him. He served 13 months then was released for good behavior, but the US Gov. never formally apologized. Please give Rev. Moon the apology he deserves.
