Give a tax break to those who grow and maintain food gardens.

I propose that we grant significant tax breaks to those who are able to provide 5% or more of their own food. The government has subsidized agriculture already, and with rising cost of food and debt sky rocketing we need to figure out a way to cut cost without hurting its citizens , giving tax breaks to citizens - not corporations - who have sustainable gardens and or "farm animals". These gardens should only be allowed to grow things from the U.S., not use harmful chemicals, and not pollute the environment. A simple tax write off option on a tax return form would be all that is needed to apply. Smaller write offs could be given to those who grow gardens that fail to reach the 5% mark but come close, and community gardens should be included. This program would cost next to nothing. GBA
