New college and post-collegiate graduates are graduating with record levels of student debt and often find that they cannot find jobs, as businesses will generally only hire experienced workers. However, if these graduates cannot find jobs, they will not be able to pay back their student loans, and in many cases the federal government will have to swallow the cost. We believe that the Obama administration should present a plan to Congress that would give tax breaks to businesses who hire recent graduates with federal student loan debt.
