The new overtime rule that is going into effect in December is exciting. Millions of Americans will be protected from working overtime with no pay. Exemptions are still included for learned professionals with high salaries. Teachers are included in this exemption. They are the only group named in the learned professionals with an average starting salary below the new threshold. They are also the only group named in the learned professionals to be primarily employed by the government. This protection will not only help teachers and their families, but will help students who do not have tired and worn out teachers. Join me in asking President Obama to address this important issue!
