We the people demand a better explanation for why marijuana is still currently illegal under federal law. The response provided to the recent marijuana related petitions was absolutely unacceptable. In your response you state:
"Like many, we are interested in the potential marijuana may have in providing relief to individuals diagnosed with certain serious illnesses.."
So you admit there is potential medical use? Why is it still listed as schedule 1? Give the people the reasoning for why it would not be possible to move it to schedule 2 to allow more research to be conducted?
Also, you mention smoked marijuana being unsafe. There are much healthier alternatives to smoking cannabis that you fail to acknowledge, such as vaporizing and edible form. We the people expect a better response.
