Give us some sort of explanation of When the Boeing 757 hit the pentagon how did it leave a smaller hole than the plane

I was wondering if there any kind of explanation to tell us how the hole in the pentagon was smaller than the Boeing 757 that hit it. There are many diagrams online showing you very clearly that there isn't a possible way the plane could have fit in there and there is video footage of a missile hitting it.
