Many countries give new fathers paid time off as well or allow parents to share paid leave. Only about 16 percent of employers offer fully paid maternity leave and many families take on significant debt or turn to public assistance around the birth of a child. For being such a great nation we should have better laws to help working families. Maternity leave should be paid for and longer than three months. the government is worried about funding, the employer could create an optional selective plan to pay towards this leave ranging from $10-15 a paycheck or more if needed. Along with paid breaks for breastfeeding mothers to pump.
