On July 1-3rd 1863, 51,000 Americans died in a fierce battle to preserve the union and end slavery at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. President Lincoln stated the men of the battle had consecrated that ground, the country was “dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal” and “shall have a new birth of freedom -- and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.” In July of 2013, America will be 150 years post Gettysburg. We ask the White House organize a conference in Gettysburg on that consecrated ground with President Obama giving a speech on what the last 150 years has meant to the proposition of all being equal, for continued forgiveness in and healing of the nation.
