As the leading country in the world, why are we the last major one still using the antiquated Imperial system? It's ridiculous!
Congress passed the Metric Conversion Act of 1977, the Metric Conversion Act of 1988, and yet we are still not using metric. Let's finally finish the job, while saving money. It costs our exporting businesses, our government, and even our citizens. As a simple example, let's remember the Mars Orbiter which was lost in the 90s as a result of one imperial system not speaking with another one using metric. It cost us $123 million dollars. This is in addition to the millions it costs our exporters, and thus our people.
Let's do the right thing. Let’s finally finish the job. Let's go metric.
