Rattled and ravaged by the widespread credible war crime allegations, Sri Lankan Presidential sibling and Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa on Monday denied his role and responsibility over the killing of 40,000 Tamils in the war against LTTE.
As the Sri Lankan war approached its endgame, 130,000 civilians were trapped along a small strip of beach. An eyewitness recalls the bloodshed that followed and how civilians were targeted.
Two Sri Lankan army officers have told Channel 4 that president Mahinda Rajapakse's younger brother Gotabaya Rajapakse had oredered the troops to kill the tamil rebels and their leaders. He had ordered them to "finish the job by whatever means necessary". Sri Lankan military has denied these allegations.
